RC Makati remains firm in its commitment to education, guided by a core principle: programs that have been started must be sustained—especially those that shape the future of young people. Rather than placing initiatives on hold, the Club continues to support deserving students currently enrolled while conducting careful evaluations of the scholarship program at the end of each Rotary year.

On 23 January, a delegation from RC Makati, led by Pres. Eddie Galvez, together with Dir. Paolo & Christine Turno, Dir. Michael Hsu, and George Haxton, visited Dualtech Training Center Foundation, Inc. in Canlubang, Laguna, for the formal turnover of scholarship funds and the renewal of its partnership with the institution.

The visit began with a guided tour of the Dualtech campus, led by Mr. Leo Calderon, who showcased the school’s facilities and technical programs. The delegation had the opportunity to meet current scholars and observe the learning environment that prepares students for industry-ready careers. Among the highlights of the visit was the CNC Lathe Machine acquired through a US$53,415 grant supported by RC Makati, reinforcing the Club’s commitment to enhancing technical training resources.

A short formal program followed, beginning with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to reaffirm the partnership between RC Makati and Dualtech. During the ceremony, the Club formally turned over its scholarship support amounting to P650,000 for 10 students enrolled in the Electromechanics course, continuing its mission to provide access to quality technical education for deserving youth. The new set of scholars were: Mary Joy D. Alvar, 18 years old from Rosario Batangas, Jeremiah F. Ganabol, 19 years old from Pola, Oriental Mindoro, Jhonmike B. Garong, 18 years old from Cuyo, Palawan, Mike Rafael P. Amolo, 21 years old from Coron, Palawan, Edmark S. Endico, 23 years old from Caramoan, Camarines Sur, Christian James F. Patulilic, 19 years old from Balilihan, Bohol, Greg Andrew T. Nazarita, 18 years old from Caramoan, Camarines Sur, Jim Paul V. Eguillon, 19 years old from Culion, Palawan, Jhon Luke Danduan, 20 years old from Maribojoc, Bohol and Dominic C. Pamada, 18 years old from San Jose, Camarines Sur.

Dualtech’s program offers a rigorous two-year technical education pathway, consisting of a six-month Electromechanics course followed by 18 months of on-the-job training with partner companies. This immersive model provides students with real-world work experience, often leading to job offers upon graduation. Beyond employability, the program is designed to cultivate self-sufficiency, discipline, and long-term economic empowerment.

During the program, Dir. Paolo emphasized the importance of education as a powerful tool to uplift lives and build better futures. Dir. Michael shared his admiration for Dualtech’s facilities and training model, noting that initiatives like this strengthen his optimism for the country’s future. George reminded the scholars that the knowledge and experience they gain through the program are forms of wealth—valuable assets they should cherish and grow. Pres. Eddie Galvez expressed his happiness in supporting the students and reaffirmed RC Makati’s commitment to sustaining the scholarship. In response, Dualtech Executive Director Jerry Muhi reminded the scholars that they are not only a source of hope for their families, but also for their communities—and that giving back creates a powerful ripple effect of positive change.

RC Makati’s support for the Dualtech scholarship program began during the presidency of PP Bing Matoto in RY 2023–24. Since then, the Club has supported a total of 25 RCM scholars are ( including the 10 new scholars )are covered by the scholarship program: 7 scholars have alteady graduated, the recent one is now working at Toyota Handling Innovation Inc., two are graduating on January 30, the rest are in various stages of OJT.
